Looppl Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, maintain, and share information provided by or collected from users (referred to as "you") of the Looppl Technology Inc. (“Looppl”) platform. This policy applies to your use of the Looppl websites, mobile apps, and related services (collectively referred to as the “Service”) offered by Looppl. By using the Service, you expressly agree to this Privacy Policy and the corresponding processes for your information/data collection.
We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under 13 years of age. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 13 years old or that you are the parent or guardian of a minor and consent to such minor dependent’s use of the Service. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under the age of 13, please contact us at privacy@looppl.ca.
Data and Information We Collect
When you use the Service, Looppl collects the following data and information:
1. Account information:
Upon your initial use, we collect your phone number or email to start and assign you an anonymous Account ID for accessing the Service. We may receive data and information about you from your third-party service provider. Subsequently, we may collect your phone number, email, username, and user settings when you log in, use, or update your Looppl account.
2. Business account and background check information (business owners):
When you first add your business or professional service as a Looppl participating business, we may collect your business’s registered name, operating name, email, phone number, physical address, profile picture, license number, user settings, and point program information during the application process.
3. Device data:
We may collect certain information, such as your mobile device identifiers, device name, hardware model, operating system and version, mobile network information, country, IP address, language information, and any other relevant information, when you check in, refer, earn/redeem points, or make a location-based request for the Service.
4. Demographic data:
We collect date of birth information to enable certain features (e.g., birthday special points) or to provide access when users purchase age-restricted products or services.
5. Location data:
We collect approximate location data from your mobile device when you check in, refer, or earn/redeem points. We may process your location data for business analytics purposes. We do not collect location data when the Looppl app is running in the background on your device.
6. Activity and transaction information:
We collect data about your use of our Service, including browsing and logging information, check-ins, interactive actions, points earning and redemption, gifting features, and payment transactions. Your or the recipient’s username/anonymous Account ID will be tagged and associated when sharing with a follower, family member, or friend. We may generate data regarding your engagement in any activities on the Service.
7. Account profile and user-generated contents:
Upon registration, you will create and personalize a Looppl profile (“Profile”). Other Looppl users may find your Profile using your username or QR code and view your public Profile, which contains your username, messages, pictures, and other user-generated content. You can connect with other Looppl users and add them as friends. By default, your Profile is public and visible to your Looppl friends. They can view your Looppl activities, such as places visited, interactive actions, achievements, and user-generated content. However, you have the option to set your Looppl activities to private or limit their visibility to a selected group/circle in your user settings. If you choose to share your Looppl activities on your social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X - formerly Twitter), please refer to the privacy policy of the respective third-party service providers.
8. Cookies:
Our platform may use "cookies" to enhance the user experience. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s electronic device that is tied to data about the user. We use session ID cookies to confirm that you are logged in. You can disable or clear cookies at any time, although you may need to log in with your phone number or email again when you access the Service. Some parts of the platform may not function properly if cookies are disabled.
9. Mobile software analytics
We may use mobile analytics software to gain insights into how our Service functions on your device, recording data such as app usage frequency, events within the app, performance metrics, and download sources. Individual users remain anonymous in these analyses. This can be opted out of in your user settings.
How We Use Your Data and Information
All personal data and information is handled strictly in accordance with applicable legal obligations. Certain personal data and information may be shared with other personal and business users of the Looppl platform as part of the normal operation of the Service. We may use your data and information for the following purposes:
1. To provide the Service:
Looppl processes and shares data and information to provide, personalize, maintain, and improve our Services, including:
a. Registering/shipping a Looppl QR code-displaying device for a participating business or professional.
b. Creating/updating accounts.
c. Enabling the Service, including check-ins, referrals, point earning and redemption, interactive actions, gifting, and other services/features, such as:
- Using location data to display participating businesses/places near users.
- Providing features that involve data and information sharing, such as sharing business and professional information with users to learn about their go-to places or professionals and to gift their followers/family/friends.
- Notifying users of places of interest or today’s exploration ideas.
d. Processing payments and enabling payment.
e. Personalizing users’ experience related to the Profile and Service, including Profile designs, achievement medals/stickers, and favorites/personalized places.
f. Performing necessary operations to analyze the usage of, market, and improve the Service, and/or correct errors and issues including software bug fixes and operational troubleshooting.
g. Investigating and/or preventing suspected fraud or other criminal activities to comply with applicable laws and regulations, which may involve sharing information with other companies, lawyers, agents, or government agencies.
h. Handling/resolving disputes between users and participating businesses or against Looppl, which may involve sharing information with a third-party vendor hired to address such issues.
2. Security and Service standards:
We use data and information to help maintain the integrity of our Services and users. This includes:
a. Validating personal or business accounts, identities, or compliance with our service requirements, such as points earning and redemptions. For example, we review unusual or excessive activities of a user to determine whether points were legitimately collected within a reasonable time frame without any system breach or agreement violation. Additionally, businesses are monitored to ensure they provide savings or freebies per their service standards to customers who have met the visiting requirements.
b. Utilizing the report feature that customers can use when a participating business refuses service without any valid excuse or requests payment or a trade-off during point redemption. This may result in participating businesses receiving messages and being required to justify their position with an incident report. They may be subject to account deactivation following a human review.
c. Providing fraud prevention and detection activities using account, device, location, usage, transaction, and other data, including communications between users and metadata.
3. Customer support:
We use the data and information collected during our Services to provide customer support, including investigating and addressing user concerns, and monitoring and improving our customer support responses and processes.
4. Research and development:
We use the data and information with third-party vendors for analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), service development, and testing. We are committed to providing our Services in a more convenient and easy-to-use manner, enhancing safety and security, and developing new services and features.
5. Referrals:
Looppl may process and utilize the data and information collected during our Services to market its services and those of participating businesses. To provide referral opportunities, we may use your Looppl activity history related to the Service to serve advertising content tailored to meet users’ interests, and better understand corresponding effectiveness. Aggregate demographic and interest data/information will also be available for participating businesses to improve your experience. You can opt out of contributing your activities leading to interactive advertising in your settings. Please note that opting out of contributing your activities does not prevent other users from using or contributing Looppl activities, and you may not be able to win or earn any collaborating benefits.
6. Communications:
We may use your data and information to send communications for our purposes to fulfill the terms of our agreements with users and to market our Services to you, including:
a. Notifications about friend requests and your friends’ activities on Looppl.
b. Announcements of new Looppl events, products, updates, offers, and changes to existing Services or products.
c. Essential messages supporting the operation of the Service.
d. Notifications about news, products, and promotions posted by a participating business you’ve visited.
7. Anonymous data and information:
We may process and use anonymous and/or de-identified data and information for any purpose. Such information is not considered personal information.
Your Data and Information Rights
In addition to any other rights required by applicable laws and regulations, you have rights in relation to the data and information collected during our Service, including:

Accessing your settings to review or update the data and information you’ve provided to use our Service.

Inquiring into and learning about the data and information we hold about you and have shared with third parties.

Requesting to correct or delete any data and information collected during our Service.

Requesting to limit our use of the data and information held about you.

Opting out from receiving push notifications by turning them off in your settings.

Not being unfairly treated for exercising your rights regarding the data and information.

Deleting your Looppl account.
Please be advised that these rights are not absolute, and Looppl may refuse requests to exercise your data and information rights if we are unable to authenticate your identity, if your request could violate the legitimate rights of a third party or applicable laws/regulations, or if your request could interrupt/disable our ability to deliver the Service to other users. Retention and Protection of Your Data and Information
We adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal data and information. Your personal data and information will be kept only for as long as is necessary. We take reasonable, industry-standard care in keeping all our data storage secure and in preventing any unauthorized access or unlawful use of it. All personal data and information we hold and process is handled strictly in accordance with applicable data and information protection legislation. We may retain certain information longer to meet legal requirements and to resolve ongoing disputes or investigations, even after your account is deleted. We reserve the right to retain anonymous data and information, which were produced due to your usage of the Service, indefinitely.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
Looppl reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. When we do, we will post a notice that we have made changes to this Privacy Policy at least seven (7) days before the changes become effective, and we will revise the updated date at the top of this page. We encourage users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we protect the personal information we collect.
Links to Third-Party Websites and Services
This Privacy Policy applies only to the data and information collected by Looppl. Participating businesses can post links to their websites and services on the Looppl platform. While we may review and monitor these links, Looppl is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other websites and services, including any personal or financial information collected by third-party payment processors. We encourage users to be aware of the privacy policies of other websites and services they visit. Any time you tap or click on a link or submit your personal data and information to third-party websites/services, you will be subject to that third party’s privacy policies.
Data Transfer and Supplemental Requirements
Looppl is based in Canada and processes data in Canada, which may not offer equivalent levels of data and information protection as your home jurisdiction. We may transfer the data and information of users outside Canada to Canada, such as during travel or exploration mode. In doing so, the Service may become subject to supplemental privacy laws and regulations. Such legal obligations will supersede this Privacy Policy in the event of a conflict.
Your Acceptance of These Terms
By using Looppl, you signify your acceptance of this policy. If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use our platform. Your continued use of the platform following the posting of changes to this policy will be deemed as your acceptance of those changes.
